Worship Wednesday: Strangely Dim

This song -- "Strangely Dim" by Francesca Battistelli -- takes my breath away.

Because it's the anthem I WANT to be mine.

In fact, my critique partner Melissa Tagg and I have decided it's our writing theme song, because it so clearly expresses what we want for our lives...especially our writing lives.

Because it's so easy to get distracted.

To forget why we do what we do.

That's why the lyrics of this song -- which give me an answer for all of that -- resonate with me so well. They talk about fixing our eyes on Him and not looking around. When we do, we can forget all the rest. Everything but Him.

I want my life to be so filled with God and His purposes for me -- which DON'T include worry, fear, or doubt -- that seeking His face is like breathing.

I can't live or do anything without it.

Your Turn: What song has blessed you this week?

  1. Yours is the second post I've read this morning about breathing. Love the song and so fitting for many areas of our lives. I've been dealing with non-writing related anxieties and this song speaks to those as well.

    1. I'm so sorry you've had anxieties, Lisa. Fixing our eyes on Him and ignoring everything else is definitely the best way to deal with it. Too bad I'm not the best at it all the time.

  3. Sounds like a great pump up song.

"It Is Well" blessed me earlier this week. Deep reasons. Played at the perfect time.

    1. That's ALWAYS a good one. And God has a way of helping us hear the perfect song at the perfect time, doesn't He?

  4. I love this song! Great one. I'm hooked on Kim Walker-Smith's new album, but the Miracle Maker has been on repeat for a couple weeks now. :)

  5. Oh I love this song. Sometimes it seems the dreams do seem so far away. But then I remember as you so aptly put it, "Trusting that He's got this." Thanks you for the reminder today!

    1. Anytime, friend!! And yes, the dreams can seem distant, but if we're heading toward him, we can't go wrong, right?

  6. Love the message in this song. I'm uplifted by classical music. Since I write historicals, listening to it transports me to my story world and helps me forget about the concerns in the here and now.

    1. Oh, I love classical music, Keli. It's the only kind of music I can work to, since I always end up singing along with anything with lyrics. :)

  9. I love your Worship Wednesdays, Lindsay! This week the song that keeps going through my head is East to West, by Casting Crowns. I love hearing how far He's thrown my sins away - as far as the East is from the West - one scarred hand to the other.
