Worship Wednesday: Beautiful Things

My husband first introduced me to "Beautiful Things" by Gungor.

I love what the chorus says in particular. It's so simple, yet profound:

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things
Out of dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things
Out of us

We were dust. He made us. But He didn't JUST make us.

He made us beautiful.

We are His handiwork, creations of art formed by the hand of the Creator.

Doesn't that give you all kinds of chills?

For me, it's a call to remember...He made me just as I am, even the parts of me I don't care for (well, minus the ugly sin stuff). When I compare my outer self to other people, I'm basically dissing my Maker, telling Him His design wasn't good enough for me.

Ah, how our perception is so limited and shaped by other humans.

He made you. You are beautiful.

Revel in that for just a moment...

Your Turn: What song is speaking to you this week?

  1. I love this post! So good. I've been stuck on Sara Groves' Hiding Place this week. Ah! Just love that I can burrow in and hide myself away in Christ--a place of change! :)

  2. I love this one! Katie Ganshert introduced me to it when she did an awesome blog tour for her first book and then Jennie Allen mentioned it in her book and I've been listening to it a lot lately. There's a new one I need to find the title for that has such poetry in it but we sing it at church...will get back to you w/ that title.

  3. On Sunday I heard 10,000 Reasons and I've been singing it all week. I love that song - it's such a powerful worship to the Lord. I hadn't heard this one before - it's beautiful.

  4. Looove that song! Last year I made a video for Hope Ministries using that song and photos and videos of women and kids in our recovery center. I think I had tears in my eyes the entire time I edited the video. :)

Hey Gabe, we sang 10,000 Reasons at church on Sunday. Love that song, too!

  5. Gabrielle and I must be on the same wave length, because 10,000 Reasons is the one continually in my head this week, too. The other one is, "Amazed." Love that one too. God's love truly does amaze me. And so often, I don't see it in my daily living.
