Bless the Lord Reason #7: He Made Life Fun

Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, you've gotta admit it...dressing up is fun stuff.

Okay, maybe not everyone loves to pretend to be someone else, but I do! Here are some recent examples:

Me as Kaye in The Taffetas, a 50s musical in the style of the Andrews Sisters
Mike and I at a hobo/redneck party. He's my baby daddy. And yes, I'm slightly embarrassed to post this.
Fierce as Rizzo in Grease. Should I go brunette? ;)
Us at a Wild West Poker Night for church. Don't worry, no one was harmed by my guns.
So today, I'm blessing the Lord for His sense of humor and the fact that He allows us to have fun in this life. Good, old-fashioned fun. The kind that makes your heart leap for joy and your belly ache from laughter.

Yeah, this life has troubles.

But there's also lots of fun to be had.

So have a fun October 31, whatever you do!

Your Turn: Do you like to dress up? What is your idea of "fun"?

  1. HAHA! LOVE the redneck party;) That was great! Thanks for the laugh. I'm not much for dressing up-though if you're onstage, now that's fun!-but you almost make me want to!

  2. Those are great! I think the last time I dressed up was for an eighties party. All I remember is that I had on some really, really terrible high waisted, acid washed jean shorts. :/

  3. You crack me up! Love it. I've dressed up a few times myself.

My kids like to go out in our front yard at various times of the year in Star Wars costumes. Good times!

  4. Omgosh! That's awesome! I'm ok with dressing up but never get quite as inspired as you. I think I may use today as an excuse to show up to work in my pjs ;)

  7. So funny! NO stay blonde! ;)

I used to dress up as a zombie when I handed out candy for Halloween. This was when Nathan was younger. It was fun to see the kids' faces when I appeared at the door.

    Ha ha!

  8. Haha, fun photos! I haven't dressed up for awhile, but oh my, the photos we have of us as kids playing dress up. :) Mom got us these prairie dresses, so we were always playing pioneer... :)

  9. You rock both brunette and blonde hair -- what's with that?
I did some major closet-cleaning recently (thank Waldo Canyon Fire aftermath) and my daughters insisted I not get rid of any of the dress up clothes. They are now in their 20s!!)

  11. Lindsay - a girl after my own heart. We dress up all the time, and not just for Halloween. We dress up for movie premiers, parties, theme dinners, etc. I have a huge stack of Rubbermaid bins just full of costumes and it's constantly being raided! We're just now (we have three adult children and one up-and-coming) preparing for The Hobbit in December, and our son has been growing out his hair and beard since January so he can go authentic dwarf!

    Fun. Yes.

  14. How fun! I did some acting in high school/college - it was so fun being someone else. :) And it's great for writing because you can easily slip into someone else's head.

  15. Enjoyed your pictures, Lindsay!

I love wearing my Victorian gown. Gwynly has his Victorian finery, too. I was delighted when he chose to wear his outfit to school today. His students thought his frock coat and top hat were awesome.

I love to dress up too. I'm an actress in our local theater, so I guess it kind of goes with the territory. :)
